Five reasons why
Native Tree
Nursery
Container plants are
Better :
1. Propagation:
Starting with healthy seedlings or cuttings,
air
pruned to
prevent circling roots and to produce a more extensive root system.
2 . Compatibility:
Alkaline loving coastal plants are grown in
a neutral to slightly
alkaline medium. This decreases the shock associated with transferring the plant
to a highly different PH environment, i.e. PH6 potting soil verses PH8
rock or sand
conditions often associated with coastal and Caribbean landscape sights.
3. Strength:
Adequate but not excessive fertilizer program. The
plants are not
"pushed" to lushness only to experience environmental shock when planted
in the "real world".
4. Preparation:
Our coastal , salt tolerant and
dry loving species are allowed to
dry down to the wilt stage. This hardens the plant and greatly improves
performance
on the job.
5. Consistency:
Finally, most of our trees are
grown on supporting structure to ensure
the stability of the plant in its young life, to provide a uniform crop of
Florida #1
or better material.
